Sharing Thoughts on Worship

Worship is simply responding to God. As we come to know God, we cannot help but worship Him. To experience the presence and power of God moves us to fall down before Him in thanksgiving and praise to proclaim His worth.

1. What about God’s nature and character causes you to want to worship Him?

2. What are some things that God has done that make you want to worship Him?

3. How might worship and celebration transform your spirit?

  1. God is holy, good, loving, merciful, and God is truth!

God is our creator, so it only makes sense that we respond to Him in worship. But, I must admit that my own worship response comes from seeing God's grace in my life and in all His redemptive acts. In God's grace most in the person and work of Jesus Christ. "We love him because he first loved us."

Worship draws me near to God. When I am close to God, I am empowered to live the holy and loving life that God calls me to live. Authentic worship helps transform my mind and my heart from discouragement and pessimism to encouragement and optimism--it transforms me from a death-orientation to a life-orientation. Worship is where I feel most alive!

  2. I love God's creativity. I love how He made people so full of surprises. I puzzle over how He made us so basically alike in our physical body & the needs of our soul but so different in personality & in our responses to life. I imagine how He must delight in our innocence & faith and grin at us like a parent who observes a toddler taking his first steps. How, like a parent, it hurts Him when we suffer the consequences of our sin when He tried to warn us away from it.

I love to see God in the beauty of His creation of the earth. I wondered a few weeks ago, why do I love going camping so much? It's dirty, buggy, sweaty, and it's a lot of work. But I realized that there is something so soothing about being in the midst of God's creation of earth and river and trees. The greens are so green. The sound of the water is so calming and the majesty of the trees is inspiring.

I try to see God in all of His creation. I try to see God working in the lives of people. And when I am seeking to see Him, He reveals Himself to me and I am compelled to worship Him.

God is so good! And the most amazing thing of all: He Loves Me!!
